? Do you want it to land and resonate with humans? ? Are you expecting users to understand and/or act on your product? ? Does any part of your product or experience have words? It’s time to stop asking about the value of content design and start asking why on earth you still don’t have content design or have them running between 20 different pods struggling. Its shown that the internet is useless without it. Its shown that accessibility can’t happen without it. Its shown that changing labels or buttons can literally save $millions of business cash. Stop hiring great content people and then expecting them to justify their existance. I would not pay Gino D’Campo to be my private chef and then chop the onions because I can do it better, lock him out of the kitchen or keep demanding to know why he’s in my kitchen making food. ✨ It is extremely counter-productive to hire folks for their expertise and then not enable them to do their job. There is no exchange, there is no revenue. Without clear, meaningful, useful communications, there is no experience. So here’s a call to leaders, it’s time for us to accept: Your content design folk are tired and, worse, burning out. This has generated quite the conversation in the content design community. We need to feel a little less comfortable asking “Why is content design or content strategy important?” and a little more comfortable asking “Why do we have senior folks in tech who don’t understand why content’s important (when it is literally at the core of every product)?” ?
